What Our Customers Have To Say

Incredible experience. Couldn’t be easier! In the past, I haven’t tested as often as I should because it felt uncomfortable for me. This is a game changer. The test arrived quickly and was so simple to use. Results came back quick too. I accidentally put the wrong phone number on my details and I had a response within 30 minutes to get my results to me! Wouldn’t hesitate to use again. Excellent.

I can't thank the Yoxly team enough. I had problems accessing my results, and within ten minutes I had a reply. Super fast results and very friendly all round. Highly recommend this company. 5 stars!

I made a mistake with the process, and they very quickly and clearly emailed me, and sent me a new collection kit for free without question. Very friendly, great customer service and a reliable product.

Chlamydia Symptoms

80% of people with Chlamydia won’t experience symptoms, which is why it is important to get tested. Symptoms, when they do appear, can include:

• Pain when urinating
• White, cloudy or watery discharge from penis
• Burning or itching in urethra
• Pain in testicles

• Pain when urinating
• Unusual vaginal discharge
• Pain in tummy and/or pelvis
• Bleeding after sex or between periods

Chlamydia Complications

If left untreated, Chlamydia can spread and may cause serious problems, which is why it is important to get tested regularly. In women, untreated chlamydia can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease or pregnancy complications, including passing the infection to your baby. Untreated chlamydia in men can lead to inflammation of the testicles, impact your fertility, or cause sexually acquired reactive arthritis (SARA).

Still Have Questions?

Why is regular testing important?

If you've ever been sexually active, you should have been tested for STIs.

Many infections cause non-specific symptoms or no symptoms at all! Untreated STIs increase your risk of contracting other STIs and developing chronic health problems. If you have an STI, with or without symptoms, you can still transmit it to your partner(s). We understand it's complicated, but the only way to know for sure is to get tested. That's why health professionals recommend all sexually-active individuals undergo a routine STI screening test at least once per year.

When should I take a Chlamydia test?

Don’t delay getting tested if you think you have trichomoniasis (i.e. you or your partner(s) have any of the above symptoms, your partner tells you they have an STI, or you had unprotected sex with someone new, etc). You can get tested for trichomoniasis at any time, though you may be advised to repeat the test 2 weeks after the date of potential exposure, as trichomoniasis can take up to 2 weeks from the time of exposure to show up positive in tests. Unless you have symptoms, we recommend that you wait 2 weeks from the time of exposure to test for trichomoniasis.

Importantly, if you are pregnant or suspect you may be pregnant, and are concerned you may have trichomoniasis, you should seek immediate attention and/or advice from a medical professional.

What samples are needed for a Chlamydia test?

Those with penises will need to provide a urine sample, whilst those with vaginas will need to provide a vaginal swab sample.

Your Yoxly test kit will contain all the information and collection materials you need to collect your samples, as well as a simple, step-by-step guide.

Is taking a test easy?

Yes! However, we understand that collecting your own samples can be daunting, and so each Yoxly kit includes detailed instructions taking you step-by-step through the process. Our users tell us that by following these instructions, taking the test is relatively easy and straightforward.

How will I receive my test kit?

Your test kit will arrive via First Class Royal Mail in discreet packaging which fits through a standard letterbox. It does not require a signature upon delivery. Depending upon the time you place your order, you should receive it within 2 business days.

When should I collect my sample?

It is important your sample reaches our lab soon after you take it. Therefore, you must take your sample on the same day it can be posted (e.g. not after the post has been collected, or on a bank holiday or a weekend).

How accurate are the results?

Yoxly's partner laboratory is one of the UK's leading providers of pathology testing, and is accredited by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Yoxly understands the anxiety that can accompany sexual health testing, and only partners with laboratories which ensure maximum accuracy.

If I test positive for Chlamydia, what are my treatment options?

If you test positive for chlamydia, you should not engage in sexual activity (e.g. oral, vaginal, or anal sex, genital contact, or use sex toys) until after you and your partner(s) have completed When you can safely resume sexual activity is dependent on the type of treatment you receive.

If you test positive for chlamydia, it’s important that your recent sexual partner(s) are also tested and treated. This includes anyone you are currently having sex with, anyone you’ve had sex with in the last 6 months, and your last sexual partner. You can provide their details to certain confidential services (e.g. GUM clinics), who may contact them to let them know they may have been exposed to an STI and suggest that they go for a check-up. These services will not tell past or present partners your name, so your anonymity is protected.

If you test positive for chlamydia and take the antibiotic treatment correctly, you may not need to be retested for chlamydia immediately afterwards to make sure the infection has gone (e.g. also known as a “test of cure” or “TOC”). However, we do recommend you have a TOC if:

  • You’ve been diagnosed with rectal chlamydia
  • You had sex before you or your partner(s) finished treatment
  • You or your partner(s) forgot to take the medication, or didn’t take it properly
  • Your symptoms didn’t go away
  • You’re pregnant

If you do need a TOC for chlamydia, it should be 6 weeks after you’ve completed the first course of antibiotic treatment. If you’re younger than 25 years of age, you should have a repeat chlamydia test 3 months after finishing treatment, because you have a higher risk of catching it again.
